Founded in 1971, the ISELP– an institution for the study of visual arts – is a place where contemporary art is approached from different angles which are mutually enriching. This plurality makes a singularity: our activities of demonstration, reflection, research, mediation and publishing all make up the richness of art today.
The ISELP benefits critical discourse concerning contemporary art by offering conferences, projections, discussions, meetings, readings, guided visits, cultural voyages and educational activities. Particular attention is given to the question of art in the public space, by the development of a think tank which leads reflection on the subject, encouraging meetings and offering the public a centre of reference.
Finally, the institute welcomes the main public documentation center of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles for visual arts in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Presses universitaires de Louvain (Louvain University Press) offer almost 1,000 titles in all academic fields, and publish at a pace of around fifty titles per year. All of PUL?s works are available to download online in a PDF format, and certain publications are available as an e-book. The catalogue is made up of monographies, conference proceedings, theses, research reports, databases, teaching supports and other scientific documents by teachers and researchers of the UCL and their academic partners, and international scientists. The collection "Cours universitaires" is developing to promote lessons in the form of reference works, in the university world. PUL?s publications can be found all around the world, by ordering them in a bookshop or through their site. PUL publish in French, but also do in English and occasionally in Spanish, Dutch, Italian, German, etc. They offer collections in a diverse range of fields, from history of law and justice, French literature, telecommunications, archaeology, general medicine or language engineering.

Maedia sprl embodies a pubishing activity dedicated primarily to the different kinds of urban arts. Since 2012, Maedia's goal is to share with the public the approach and motivation of artists from alternative or underground disciplines that are still too often misunderstood, such as graffiti, skateboard, hip-hop and electro. Nocturnal performances, perceptible nuisances, hijacked locations, proximity to drugs and alcohol are all factors that prevent a fair mutual understanding between urban artists and those who live and manage the city. Through a game of interviews, essays and graphic or sound illustrations, Maedia seeks to contribute to the construction of a necessary and urgent citizen dialogue, while giving the opportunity to artists deemed not very prolix to speak. and to share their passions and their emotions.

Since 1985, our theoretical plastic arts review La Part de l'oeil has kept up with the latest research and investigation concerning the essence of the creative process, with the objective being to fill in the outlines while delineating the features of contemporary Aesthetics. Specifically, we deal with the theoretical vacuum which has surrounded art for years, by testing the discourse through its relationship to the art work which is the base of aesthetic thought. The most important critics, philosophers, artists, academics, writers... contribute every year to the review. A section of each issue is dedicated to approaching the major questions of art from a contemporary prospective. We also publish two collections of books :? Théorie? (essays on art) and ?Diptyque? (artists ?monographies). Our review and books are published in French.

Founded in 1987 and based in Louvain-la-Neuve, at the heart of the university city, Academia is a publishing house specialising in human sciences being at the top. Its catalogue now consists of more than 800 titles, aimed at a varied public : professionals, teachers, researchers, students and those passionate about learning.
In 2011, the publishers have been consolidated by the group Harmattan. New authors came to enrich the catalogue, and new collections were created. In the digital era, Academia has also reviewed its techniques of production and offers, from now, its titles in both paper and digital versions.
In this dynamo of development, les éditions Academia opened itself to literature by creating two collections : Littératures and Livres Libres. These collections welcome fictional texts of all styles (witness accounts, detective novels, fantasy?).
