Description :
When Violaine Lison recieves Léonce Delaunoy's First World War journals, she is struck by how beautiful and powerful his writing is. In spite of the horrors of the war, Léonce remains close to nature - descibing the landscape, the Yser region, the birds - and his friendships. The story of "the war of Léonce" spreads before the eyes of Violaine. But quickly she reckons that something is wrong. There are holes, inconsistencies. Are these journals fake? Transcribed? A sort of historical and literary investigation begins. Throughout her research, Violaine Lison finds the original journals and understands that they had been transcribed by Paul, a close friend of Léonce's. But the transciption is incomplete. The censored parts talk about the absurdity of the war, distress, suicide, and also his love for Herman, third character of this book.
