Shortly before his death, Ariel Bildzek, this giant of world literature, revealed to me what he had never told anyone. He made me the depositary of the immense happiness which arose in the heart of his adolescence and of the most barbarous of cruelties which, like a monster emerging from the abyss, came to tear his soul and mutilate him forever. He asked me to write this story, to slip into his joys, his sorrows and that unalterable melancholy which has kept this admirable writer all his life away from the rumors of the world. So I modestly slipped into his skin to undertake this story in the first person singular. He left us before I finished my job, I hope, oh how, that I didn't betray him.
