In 1898, Empress Eugénie attempted to steal the Oriental Pearl from the treasury. She concealed it in a travel clock and entrusted it to her friend, Elisabeth of Austria, also known as Sissi. After Sissi was murdered in Geneva, the clock disappeared.
In 2015 Brussels, the fastidious and frumpy Augustin hides his attraction to his colleague, the insolent Lena, who treats him with indifference and sometimes hostility. When they are both invited to Geneva by their boss, Augustin's heart races at the idea of going with her.
