Key figures for FWB publishing
As it does every year, the ADEB has compiled the 2023 economic data for publishing houses established in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Publishing activity in 2023 (€327 million) is up (+1.5%) on 2022. Digital publishing continues to grow, offsetting the fall in sales of paper books and transfers of rights. However, this positive result must be seen in the light of the level of inflation over the period 2022-2023, which is over 10%. Publishers have therefore seen their margins fall sharply, especially as production costs have risen by between 30% and 100% over this period.
