APPF poetry prize for Carl Norac
The APPF (Association for the Promotion of Francophone Poetry), founded in France in 2020, awarded its first poetry prize. The winner is Carl Norac for his collection Un verre d’eau glacée [A glass of ice water], published in Belgium by Le Taillis Pré editions.
The son of the poet Pierre Coran and the actress Irène Coran, Carl Norac was born in Mons in 1960. He has published numerous collections of poetry and short stories, as well as children’s tales and albums. His books have been translated into fifty languages. In 2020-2021, he was the National Poet of Belgium. Having written poetry for adults and for young people inspired him to write a short essay on the subject: la Poésie pour adultes et enfants : le grand écart ? [Poetry for adults and children: the big gap?] (Les Midis de la poésie editions).
