Face à la mer, by Pierre Montbrand,
is one of the twelve finalists for the Françoise-Sagan 2021 prize. The book is published by Quadrature. A publishing house dedicated exclusively to the short story genre, Quadrature has Belgian authors, as well as French and Quebec authors in their catalog.
Pierre Montbrand is the author of a novel, Murmures [Whispers], published in 2018. Face à la mer (Facing the Sea, 2020) is his first collection of short stories. The book features characters from all walks of life who share the quest for the eternal feminine, mysterious and elusive.
Since 2010, the Françoise-Sagan Prize has been awarded each year to a work of French-language fiction. The award was created by the novelist’s son, Denis Westhoff, "to honor her memory" but above all "to honor books and, I hope, to inspire people to read."
